About the random draft order generator

A draft order generator assigns picking positions to managers, players, or teams. The first round is randomized once. Later rounds follow the draft format you select: a standard draft repeats that order, while a snake draft reverses it on alternating rounds. This gives your group a complete pick schedule before the draft begins.

How to use the draft order

  1. Enter every participant or team once. Use distinct labels so managers with similar team names can identify their picks.
  2. Set Draft rounds. Leave Snake draft checked for alternating order, or uncheck it for a standard draft.
  3. Click Generate draft. Review each round, then copy or download the schedule before starting selections.

When to use it

Fantasy sports drafts

Create a draft order for a fantasy league before managers choose players. Agree on the draft format and number of rounds before randomizing.

Game and resource selection

Assign repeated picking turns for game characters, shared resources, or activity choices. The tool provides an order; it does not record the choices made.

One-round selections

Set the round count to one for a single picking order. In that case, snake and standard formats produce the same structure.

Options and input rules

Snake vs. standard
In a snake draft, odd rounds use the original shuffled order and even rounds reverse it. A standard draft repeats the original order in every round.
Round limits
Choose 1–30 rounds. The product of participants and rounds must be 10,000 picks or fewer so the schedule remains manageable.
Entries and duplicates
Enter each manager once unless multiple draft positions are intentional. Duplicate removal compares the complete label and is case-sensitive.

How the randomization works

The tool uses a Fisher–Yates shuffle driven by the browser’s crypto.getRandomValues() source. It walks through the list and exchanges each entry with a randomly chosen eligible position. The settings for this tool then determine how the shuffled entries become an order, selection, or set of assignments.

Entries and results stay in this page’s memory. This site does not upload your input or keep a saved history. A new generation replaces the displayed result; copy or download anything you want to keep before reloading or leaving the page.

Frequently asked questions

Are all rounds randomized separately?

No. Only the starting order is shuffled. Later rounds repeat or reverse that same order according to the selected format, preserving a consistent draft structure.

Can I use this for a fantasy football draft?

Yes. Enter the league’s team or manager names and select the format agreed by the league. The generator is not connected to a fantasy sports platform.

Does it support auction drafts or traded picks?

No. It creates standard and snake picking schedules. It does not track auction budgets, trades, keepers, selections, or changes to individual picks.

Can I lock the draft order after generating it?

Save the result with Copy or Download. A new generation replaces the displayed schedule, and reloading the page clears it.
